Popis: We visited 6 schools for blind children, deaf children, and children with other disabilities in Indonesia (Djakarta, Bandung), and carried out an interview survey concerning physical education conducted at schools for handicapped children. The following results were obtained. 1) Facilities for physical education were decrepit, and sports equipment lacked in both quality and quantity. 2) There was no specialist in physical education at the schools, and gym classes were taught by teachers who completed courses of education of handicapped children. 3) Gym classes were taught by restricting the events depending on the type and degree of disability. 4) There is no personnel exchange or contact with other schools, and information concerning physical education of handicapped children was lacking. 5) The Ministry of Education promoted publication of guidebooks of physical education and planning of seminars about educational methods for handicapped children, but the administrative actions may not be in agreement with wishes and attitudes of teachers.
