In our laboratory, the characteristics of radiation behind air shock waves have been studied systematically by using a diaphragm-type shock tube. In previous studies, Polyethylene terephthalate(PET) films were used for the diaphragm to generate a shock wave. In this study, shock waves were generated using aluminum-based diaphragms. The rupture processes of diaphragm were photographed using a high-speed video camera. From the obtained results, the effects of the rupture processes of diaphragm on the shock wave formations were considered. As a result, it was found that the aluminum-based diaphragm effects on the incident shock Mach number. Also, as the opening ratio of the diaphragm increases, the shock wave Mach number increases.
