The preferred orientations of inclusion such as phenocryst and rock fragment within six dikes in Kawakami and Yoshino provinces, central Kii peninsula, SW Japan, were measured to infer the magma flow directions. In the result four westward and two upward magma flow directions were determined. Four westward magma flow directions suggest the magma chamber east of sampling localities. It is plausible that the magma chamber underlies the Daiko mountain range, considering the nearby tuffite dikes showing 45m width in maximum and the arclike distribution just like a vent forming caldera. |
