Challenges and possibilities of ecotourism in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture is examined in this paper. Nabari is located in the suburb of the Osaka metropolitan area and has natural tourist resources such as Akame 48 Waterfalls. From the comparative study among the organizations certified under the Ecotourism Promotion Act in Japan and the survey of local residents, related organizations, and ecotours in Nabari City, involvement of local residents and public awareness of ecotourism were identified as major problems of ecotourism in Nabari. |
