The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perfectionism, depression, and parental-bonding. 349 college students completed the questionnaire comprised of the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS), the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), and the Paternal Bonding Instrument (PBI). Social oriented perfectionism emerged as the most important component as the relationship between perfectionism and depression; Social-oriented perfectionism displayed the most significant impact on depression among three dimensions of perfectionism. Second, over-protection from mother significantly contributed to Socially-oriented perfectionism. Finally, the result of path-analysis showed that Social-oriented perfectionism mediated two values between parental bonding and depression. |
