Statistical analysis was made on 689 patients with urolithiasis seen in our out-patient clinic during the period of 6 years from 1959 to 1964. 1) The prevalence of urolithiasis among the t otal of 6, 511 out-patients was recorded as 10.6 %. 2 ) The age distribution of the patients ranged between 4 and 84 years old, with the most frequent age group being in the third decade which accounted as 28.3% of the total. The most frequent prevalence of each urolithiasis by age group was in the fourth decade for kidney stone, in the third decade for ureter stone and in the seventh decade for urinary bladder stone and prostatic stone. Sex ratio was 2.9 to 1 with male predominance. 3) The percent distribution on the localization of stone was fou n d as 27.1 % in the kidney, 60.1 % in the ureter, 7.6 % in the urinary bladder, 4.2 % in the prostatic gland, and 1.0 % in the urethra. The ratio of upper and lower urinary tract for localization of stone was 6.9 to 1. 4) For the upper urinary tract stones, the affected side was on the right side in 47.3% and on the left side in 49.4%. 5) As treatment, ne p hrectomy has been decreasing with alternative increase of conservative operating procedures for nephrolithiasis. For ureterolithiasis more cases have been treated with conservative therapy with spontaneous discharge of stone than operative therapy. For bladder stone transurethral procedures have more frequently performed. |
