For many years, I have continued to investigate and study the water environment of islands and volcanic areas in Japan. Recently, I have been focusing on the islands of Nagasaki Prefecture, and have been conducting ongoing surveys with the Goto Islands, Iki, Hirado and Tsushima. In the previous study on the Izu Islands, I was able to show the relationship between the last volcanic activity period and water quality, and I waited for the opportunity to conduct a comparative study of Jeju Island, which is a volcanic island and close to Tsushima. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to investigate in December 2018 and June 2019, so I will report on the outline.Jeju Island is a volcanic island that is almost entirely covered by lava flow, so there are many underflow rivers in spite of precipitation, but it was possible to investigate rivers with some flow. Depending on the area of the island, there are many rivers that tend to flow down, and there are many rivers that flow as surface currents. In addition, in the urban area with large population and the river flowing around the farmland, it became clear that the anthropogenic influence is affecting the river.Furthermore, the survey and research at Miyakejima, Izu Islands, was resumed in response to the survey results at Jeju Island, and the latest data was presented for comparison. In the future, I will collect and organize statistical information and GIS data on Jeju Island, and proceed with the analysis. I will also investigate surveys in the rainy season and the summit area. In addition, I intend to proceed with a comparative study with Japanese volcanic islands.
