| Popis: | This paper deals with the relationship between internal migration and subjective happiness in China. Migration theory typically supposes that rural people migrate in order to raise their utility. However, according our sample based on a 2006 national household survey, migration is likely to have negative effect on the subjective happiness. This raises an interesting puzzle. Why do so many people migrate into urban areas where they are likely to experience hardships? We don’t think that they behave irrationally. We try to solve the problem by introducing human capital theory. We also examine about the relationship between interprovincial migration and available housing in China. |
