The purpose of this research is to improve the “stimulated recall" method, which was developed to understand the internal processes of children during school classes, so as to increase its applicability in school settings, and to develop “Stimulated Recall v.2" to help redesign and improve school classes. The main results were as follows: (1) The content of videos was memorized more easily than the content of photographs in materials that children were asked to view or listen to after classes. (2) Of the two types of visual answer sheets used, the one that included descriptions and had fewer question and answer choices was completed in a shorter period of time. (3) “Stimulated Recall v.2," which utilizes visual answer sheets and image scanners, enabled the provision of analysis results the same day the class was conducted (approximately two hours later). (4) The discussion based on the analytical results of “Stimulated Recall v.2" shifted from a conventional focus on “teaching methods" to “learning content." These findings suggest that “Stimulated Recall v.2" works effectively for improving and redesigning school classes, the “A" (act) stage of the PDCA cycle.
