The purpose of this study is to clarify whether or not urinary pH and motor abilities and body composition can be correlated. One hundred and thirty healthy male students volunteered to be subjects. The variables determined in this study are as follows: urinary pH, grip strength, back strength, Foster test, body weight, body fat, percent body fat (%Fat), and lean body mass (LBM). AIl of the subjects were asked not to drink or eat anything after 8:00 p.m. of the day before the measurement. Utinary pH was determined by using a diqital pH meter. This study showed that there was no siqnificant correlation between urinary pH and the other variables in this study, and none of the F-values by analysis of variance of urinary pH among all of the groups of motor abilities and body composition levels was significant. Since urinary pH decreases during exercise according to research studies, acute exercise influences but motor abilities seem not to influence urinary pH. This study way supported in part by a research grant from the Ministry of Education in Japan. |
