Ili kufahamu, kutangamana, kuwasiliana kikamilifu na kuishi vyema na wengine katika jamii fulani ni muhimu sana kuyafahamu na kuzingatia mambo ya kaida na miiko. Makala hii ni mwendelezo wa juhudi za mwandishi katika kuziba mwanya wa rejea juu ya vipengele mbalimbali vya Utamaduni wa Kiswahili na Utamaduni wa Kiafrika kwa ujumla zinazowalenga wakufunzi na wajifunzaji wa Kiswahili kama lugha ya Kigeni. This brief article highlights Norms and Taboos in Swahili Culture (Kaida na Miiko katika Utamaduni wa Kiswahili). Every culture has a set of things that are considered folkways, social mores, or things that people do as norms on one hand, on the other hand, every culture has a set of things that are forbidden to say or do, immoral things which are referred to as taboos in this article. It is of utmost importance to understand and comply to norms and taboos in order to interact, communicate well, and live in harmony with the people of any given culture. This article is a continued effort of the author to bridge the gap of available references aimed for both instructors and learners of Swahili as a foreign language and knowledge of African Culture at large. |
