In order to investigate the renal circulation under hemorrhagic hypotension , renal blood flow was determined by direct and indirect method on adult dogs in which hypotension was created by blood loss technique. Serum and urinary electrolytes, specific gravity and pH of urine were also measured. After hypotension was achieved, same volume of autoblood, low molecular dextran, mannitol, or erythrocytic suspension as blood loss was administered, and their effects on renal function and diuresis were comparatively studied. 1) Blood pressure Low (value i n m e a n p r e s s u r e , m mHg) Normal 80 60 40 Renal blood flow7. 8-26. 4 (ml/kg/min) a(v1e4r.8ag ei)n 7.7 4.2 1.8 Percentage as norma l 1 0 0 % 65% to be 100 43% 18% Renal p l a s m a flow 60-70% 60-70%impossible impossible (ml/kg/min) of RBF of RBF meatosu re m e a tsou re Glomerular filtration 1.8-3.5 impossible im p o s sible rate (ml/kg/min) (2.8 in 1.8 to to average) measure mea s u r e Recovery rate of renal blood flow sixty minutes after a fluid administratio n on the hypotensive dogs was 62 % in the autoblood group, 80 % in low molecular dextran , 57 % in mannitol, and 34 % in erythrocytes suspension. 2) Total serum protei n , hematocrit, and serum pH were lowered in all the dogs of blood loss hypotension. 3 ) Of the serum and urinary electrolytes under hemorrhagic hypotension, serum sodium showed little change or slight increase, serum potassium decrease, urinary sodium slight decrease, and urinary potassium slight increase. 4) Urinary pH, specific g r avity and out-put were all lowered under hemorrhagic hypotension. Diuretic effect of the mannitol infusion was most striking, followed by low molecular dextran, autoblood and erythrocytes suspension in order. |
