Popis: This study aims to clarify the current situations and problems of the development of preschool education in rural areas by researching “One Village, One Kindergarten” program in Yunnan province. Preschool education plays an active role in several aspects, including encouraging economic growth, reducing regional disparities, promoting social stability and popularizing basic education. In Yunnan province, the “One Village, One Kindergarten” program has been implemented to expand preschool education resources in rural areas. The main initiative is to build inclusive kindergartens by converting one-year preschool classes into inclusive kindergartens. Consequently, the number of inclusive kindergartens has increased. However, the situation of preschool education in rural areas remains grim. The reasons why a quality preschool education is unavailable to many children in rural areas are given below, which contain policy issues, lack of teacher systems and policies, socio-cultural environmental issues, routes to kindergartens and environmental issues within kindergartens.
