Popis: AimJunior High school students don’t like to make mistakes. They cann’t express their ideas and thought because they are confuse. This study aims to clear the students’ learning process in History class using Mind Map method. Mind map method is useful for discovering new ideas.MethodThe respondents of this study are 34 Junior High School students taking History class (19boys 15girls). They wrote their thought and understandings before and after using Mind Map method. The data gathered (their thought and ideas) were categorised into 3 categories ‘finding the social issues’, ‘finding the social goal’, and ‘problem solving’. Aside from this, a case study was also done to analyze the data.Result and discussionThe result suggested that students could express their thought with their own words. Especially, half of them could understand the relationship between ‘finding the social goal’ and ‘problem solving’. It means that students could acknowledge that they are also part of historical issues. One student in the case study could understand the social issues and the social goal through Mind Map. He also could solve the problem by himself.Taking consideration the results, we therefore conclude that Mind Map method motivates sutdents to focus on thinking about historical issues and acknowledging their part in it.However, teacher have to pay attention when and where they can use Mind Map. Mind Map method is useful for students to rearrange their knowledge and find new ideas. More examination are needed in applying this method to different subject and teaching strategy offerd by the school.
