Popis: | A pattering technique for blood vessels on biochips is discussed herein. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) acts as an inhibitor of cell adhesion. To produce a biocompatible region, we performed Ar plasma irradiation of the PTFE substrate. F is removed from C-F bonds in the _n structures, and amorphous C is apparently brought to the surface of PTFE.. The strong hydrophobic properties of PTFE are thus altered to hydrophilic properties by plasma irradiation. Conventional photolithography is then used to produce a blood vessel-like network scaffold. After l-week cell culture of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), the blood vessel pattem can be observed clearly on fluorescence microscopy. Departmental Bulletin Paper |
