Popis: Novel coronavirus infections have rapidly spread throughout the world since late 2019, and their impacts remain severe. Our lifestyles have changed completely because of the pandemic. As part of social distancing, we now avoid enclosed spaces and close contact with other people. We refrain from going out and have started working from home, requesting leave, and taking other measures to slow the spread of the virus. Therefore, the situation in our communities has reached crisis point. Approximately 9 years ago, the Great East Japan Earthquake and the following tsunami struck Japan with unprecedented force. This, combined with the radiation damage caused by the subsequent nuclear accident, resulted in wide-ranging damage and impacts on different communities. This paper focuses on these two disasters, examining their impacts on communities and consider- ing what will be important in providing disaster support moving forward.
