Popis: | 紀要論文 This study aims to examine the structure characteristics of the opening section of Japanese and Korean smartphone chat. To examine the sender’s initiation utterances and receiver’s reactions, the components and sequences of the initial utterances of the chat were analyzed. The results showed that, concerning the components, in both languages the sender uses a large quantity of A[attention request]. On the other hand, while in Japanese chat both the sender and the receiver use B/b[greetings] to maintain or rebuild their relationship with the conversation partner, in Korean chat the sender uses C[checking the situation] and the receiver uses d[answer], which tends to delay the entrance to the main point of the conversation. Furthermore, both languages chats lacked an opening section, as well as utterances leading into the main point without waiting for the partner’s response in some portions of the conversation. From the above, it has been found that there is a unique structure in both languages. As smartphone chat conversations between Japanese and Koreans are increasing, this research hopes to provide important insights for intercultural text message communication. |
