This article analyzes changes in earning distribution of Japanese workers by industry and type of employment from 1993 to 2003. In Part 1, average monthly earning of each industry is decomposed into (1) average earning of regular workers, (2) average earning of part-time workers, (3) part-time workers ratio, and estimations are made about percentage contribution of these factors to the change in average earning of each industry. In Part 2, changes in earning distribution across industries are examined by Lorenz Curves and Gini Coefficients, and changes in industrial distribution of workers and increase in the number of part-time workers are shown to be responsible for increase in earning disparities among Japanese workers. 論説(Article) |
