Popis: | Explosive eruptions at Showa crater of Sakurajima volcano have become active from 2009. Small earthquake swarms sometimes occur before about 1-2 hours of explosions and eruptions with a large amount of emission of volcanic ash. The small earthquakes are high-frequency (5-6 Hz) and no clear S-wave. The earthquakes are classified as BH-type. Hypocenters of the earthquakes are located at a depth of 0.5 km beneath the Showa crater. Occurrences of the earthquake swarms begin 30 minutes to 1 hour after start of inflation observed by extensometers before explosions. |
