Eight tablets (400 mg) of Melysin were administered daily for 7 days to 50 complicated urinary tract infection cases. Overall clinical efficacy rate was 17% in catheter indwelt group (24 cases) and 58% in no cathter indwelt group (19 cases), which was unexpectedly good result in comparison with treatment with other antibiotics. Among 52 isolated organisms, 10 strains were P. aeruginosa and 72 % of the remaining 42 strains were eradicated by the treatment. In case of E. coli, 85% were eradicated while 26 strains of replaced organisms were newly appeared. Though there was no side effect, transient elevation of GOT and GPT values was observed in two cases with history of hepatitis. |
