Soluble and Thermally stable polymers : Polyimide with aliphatic bicyclo-structure in the main chain

Popis: The all aromatic polyimides such as "Kapton" initially synthesized by du Pont have been recently conducive to high-temperature applications. However,some problems still remain in the processability due to their poor solubility. In our laboratory, recent years have seen development in the synthesis of soluble and thermally stable polyimides by use of tetracarboxylic dianhydride with aliphatic bicyclo-structure. In this parer, we report that a novel and facil method for the polyimide synthesis has been achieved by direct polycondensation of aliphatic bicyclotetracarboxylic tetramethylester with a wide variety of aromatic diamines.
