In order to investigate the possibility of the geostationary meteorological satellite Himawari for inquiry learning, the high PM2.5 concentration event observed during 2-7 August 2020 in Kyushu and Okinawa was examined by using the geostationary meteorological satellite Himawari images, meteorological data, atmospheric data, and ground-based timelapse pictures. The following results were obtained. The time-series Himawari visible imagery is useful for the investigation of Nishinoshima volcanic ash clouds ejection degree and their advection. In addition, the aerosol optical thickness images by the JAXA geophysical parameters products and by the MRI/JMA model products are very useful to understand the volcanic aerosol behaviour. |
