Energy requirements and energy budget for the juvenile yellowtail were determined based on the growth and body composition analysis after feeding a fish meal based diet at different ration levels. On the energy requirement study, energy requirement for maintenance of body weight and activity, optimum and maximum growth were 214, 571, and 772 (KJ/kg bw/day), respectively. The energy budget was formulated based on the ration level at 4.3%, which gave the highest growth. The dietary energy left 11.2% as fecal energy and 2.0% as non fecal energy loss. Of the remainning energy (metabolizable energy: ME), 36.4% was lost as heat increment. The reminder was broken into 33.0% as a growth and 17.4% as an energy for maintenance and activity. |
