This study reviews the literature on specific indicators for nursing care from the viewpoint of patientsatisfaction and clarifies the current situation. Eight domestic documents and three foreign documentsrelated to patient satisfaction scales for nursing care were examined. As social interest in medical care hasincreased, large-scale surveys on improving the quality of medical care have been conducted in the UnitedStates and Japan. These surveys indicate that nurses rank first among the factors influencing patientsatisfaction of hospital care. However, in the development of scales focusing only on nursing care, thecomplex structure of, and the factors involved in, nursing care have not been sufficiently considered.Consequently, there is currently no unified patient satisfaction scale for nursing care that fully capturesthe complexities and range of that care or patient experiences of it. |
