Earlier reports and design guidelines of power transmission facilities are based on the assumption that a wind load act in a horizontal direction. In case a transmission line is constructed on a slope in mountainous areas, its wind forces have an upward component which acts to a transmission line as an uplift wind load. This paper studied the effects of the uplift wind on the response behaviors of a transmission tower which composes at tower and cables with equal spans. As a result, we could confirm quantitatively that the uplift wind decreased the tension of cable and increased the incline of a suspension insulator connecting with the cables. |
