We are reporting a fact-finding study on 306 patients with nasal allergy in Okinawa. The results are as follows : 1. It showed a different tendency from the previous reports in the other places that nasal symptoms become worse in winter. 2. A major allergen of nasal allergy in Okinawa was a house dust, which indicated a very high rate compared with the previous reports in the other places in Japan. 3. There was a small number of flying pollen in Okinawa, and pollinosis was far between. But we were interested in the pollen of characteristic flowers in the subtropical zones, such as a nettle (Urticaceae), Casnarina equisetifolia Forst, Pinus luchuensis Mayr, etc.. |
