EABR(Electrically evoked Auditory Brainstem Response) is the response of auditory pathways to electrical stimulation rather than acoustic stimulation, and anticipated to be a method of investigating retrocochlear function in patients with profound sensorineural deaf ness for whom acoustic stimulation was not possible. It is easily predicted that the EABR waveform will change depending on the functional state of auditory pathways, but research data on analysis of waveform is insufficient. In this study, to examine the usefulness of EABR as a method of estimating retrocochlear function, two types of deaf models in guinea pigs were made, and the EABR of each model was observed. The results are as follows. 1. ETABR for intracochlear stimulation is better than that for round window stimulation with respect to minimal influence of direct electrical stimulus artifact and myogenic artifact without muscle relaxants, and of lower threshold. 2. On a spiral ganglion damaged model made by administration of kanamycin sulfate, amplitude significantly decreased (p |
