Popis: | 研究論文 Articles This paper examines the differences in understanding of usage of “tekuru” and the influences of lexical and grammatical ability on the comprehension of “tekuru”by native Chinese speakers learning Japanese. A “tekuru” test, a vocabulary test, and a grammar test were administered to 154 Chinese university students majoring in Japanese. First, it compared the mean scores and percentage of correct answers for each usage and subcategory of “tekuru” to identify differences in learners’ understanding of each usage of “tekuru” Next, Pearson product-rate correlation coefficients were calculated for each usage of “tekuru” with lexical and grammatical knowledge, and their correlations were compared. In addition, we compared the average scores for each usage of “tekuru” in the top, middle, and bottom groups for both lexical and grammatical knowledge. As a result, spatial movement usage tends to be easier to understand than aspectual usage, and aspectual usage tends to be easier than inverse usage. However, whether it is the spatial movement usage that is well understood, the inverse usage that is not well understood, or similar usages, some exceptional subcategories show a different level of understanding than the trend exhibited by each usage. In all the three aspects, learners’ understanding of “tekuru” tends to improve as their lexical and grammatical knowledge becomes richer. In the spatial shifting usage, learners’ understanding of “tekuru” tends to improve as their vocabulary knowledge becomes richer than their grammatical knowledge. In the aspectual usage, learners’ understanding of “tekuru” tends to progress only when their lexical knowledge is considerably richer than their grammatical knowledge. Meanwhile, in retrograde usage, learners’ understanding of “tekuru” tends to require a considerable enrichment of grammatical knowledge rather than lexical knowledge. |
