Popis: We surveyed Disaster Base Hospitals in Aichi Prefecture and found that most hospitals utilize groundwater as a countermeasure to water suspension. However, some hospitals are unable to procure adequate water when water suspension occurs. Such hospitals should receive priority for emergency water supply. Hospitals that can procure adequate water by utilizing groundwater still face the risk of water suspension. In case of a blackout, there will be limited fuel for emergency power generators for groundwater pumps. Alternatively, an earthquake may damage a hospital's water pipes. We found that few hospitals discussed emergency water supply with the waterworks bureau. Finding a better route to water tanks and ascertaining the necessity of extension pipes is also necessary. Additionally, a prefecture-wise survey is imperative in view of the need for emergency water supply after a large-scale disaster.
