Popis: Hot spring waters containing various kinds of ions cause such problems as scaling ofpipelines. The scale formation is related with separation of inorganic salts from supersaturated solutions. Therefore, it becomes necessary to perform such maintenance to clean the inner walls of pipelines by the chemical treatment using an acid treating device or other chemicals, or by scraping mechanically. In order to develop a simple method to protect the scaling, we have conducted the test on the scaling prevention using ceramic fluid water treatment from the viewpoint of chemical analyses of hot-spring water andscaling materials. In the experiment on the formation of CaCO3 crystal, it was found that particle sizes of CaCO3 crystals treated in the ceramic fluid water were smaller than those treated in non-ceramic fluid water. The scaling prevention and the descaling tests were conducted at two hot springs (Shiohitashi and Obama) using the ceramic fluid water treatment. It was judged that at Shiohitashi hot spring, the scaling was reduced by the inhibition of oxidation of Fe2-, and at Obama hot spring, the descaling was recognized as a result of increase in calcium ion and suspended matters. In conclusion, the ceramic fluidwater treatment gives an effective influence to the descaling of hot spring waters.
