Popis: In this paper, I try to analyze the conception of Space which was written in the chapter XIII, book II, of ((An Essay concerning Human Understanding)) by John Locke, and put it into the confrontation of various theories in the 17 th century. As the result of this analyzation, the following issues would be revealed. 1. In his ((Essay)), John Locke does not admit both the relative conception of Space and the absolute conception of it. 2. In his critical analysis of Descartes' theory, the method of scepticism is adopted.
