Popis: | Over more than a hundred years, different socio-political apparatuses have been in charge of importing Mexican labor to the United States. In 1986, the U.S. government established a visa system for the admission of non-agricultural workers, the H-2B visa program. This paper delves into the role of recruiters in the configuration of the H-2B visa program, arguing that recruiters constitute infrastructures of labor intermediation that, beyond offering the service of linking migrant workers to jobs abroad, has the power of shaping labor relations between employers and migrant workers, operating as a tool through which migrant workers can be controlled. 論説(Article) |
