Popis: | The empirical penetration equation of Young (1997) is examined by using the experimental and numerical simulation data on the LUNAR-A (Lunar Exploration Satellite) penetrator. The data show a good correlation with the predicted penetration depth and experimentally measured depth on several penetrators with different size, weight, and shape of head, though the mechanical properties of the target material are well controlled and restricted as the lunar simulant regolith. When we apply the empirical penetration equation to a unknown surface of a planetary body, we may make a prediction of penetration depth with a factor of 20 for a desired penetrator. If the surface of the planetary body is covered by regolith, the quality of the prediction may be enhanced to be of a factor five or so. 資料番号: AA0063350042 |
