Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(ISAS)), Sagamihara, Kanagawa Japan This study proposes to use air-breathing pulse detonation engines in the new sounding rocket of JAXA. Air-breathing pulse detonation engines with high specific impulse have great possibilities to improve the rocket performance.
