Popis: | This paper is the fifth report on the durational ratio of long vowels against short vowels which are in phonological oppositions in five languages respectively. Although the number of participants reported in the five papers is limited, only six in each languages, not about all participants actually recorded, a complete order of durational rations of six languages, including Japanese (Sato 2004), was finally made clear. The durational ratio of Miskito was found to be the smallest in the six languages and the average durational contrast between its short and long vowels in only 1.0005. Therefore the phonological status of the vowels contrast should be reconsidered. Then, it will be investigated if pitch has its linguistic function to make the contrast. Finally, it will be assumed that pitch-peaks on second syllables may play roles with the stressed first syllables in Miskito. Article 論文 |
