Popis: The sensitivity to Gentamicin (GM) of 11 strains of Pseudomonas and 7 strains of Proteus isolated from the secondary urinary tract infections and the infected wounds was studied. The results indicated that all these isolates were sensitive to GM. A dose of 40 mg per day of GM was intramuscularly administered to 14 patients with urinary tract infections for 7 days. The sensitivity was excellent (4 cases) and good (3 cases) in the Proteus, infections, and all the cases of Pseudomonas-infected wounds were improved by the topical administration of GM. The results of our clinical trials indicated that GM is the most effective antibiotic agent in the treatment of infections caused by Pseudomonas or Proteus.
