[SUMMARY] In Expressive Activity classes, drawing the image of the unit (pictures, onomatopoeia indicating the subject andits state) on an ‘Image Carta’ for improvisation is considered useful for children who have difficulty in imagining and for teachers who are not good at Expressive Activity classes. However, “how to draw letters” in the ‘Image Carta’ has not been discussed so far. Therefore, in this study, the onomatopoeia in the ‘Image Carta’ is divided into two types: (1) ‘A normal characters’ that are written without decoration and (2) ‘B characters that emphasize onomatopoeia’ that are decorated to emphasize the state of the image, and we decided to examine the influence of the “way of drawing letters”. The subjects were 28 third-year students who took an expressive movement class at the University of C in October 2021, and 35 fourth-grade students (6 in the top technical level and 29 in the middle or lower level) at the C Elementary School. After all the classes were completed, the students were asked Q: Do you think this ‘Image Carta’ is easy to express when you use it for improvisation? The results showed that the third-year students at University C and the six students with the highest skills at Elementary School C rated 2 as significantly easier to express. On the other hand, there was no difference in the ratings of 1 and 2 among the students in the middle and lower proficiency levels at the same elementary school. |
