| Popis: | There are a number of self-administered tools that assess symptoms of vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, or compassion fatigue available for clinicians. This chapter provides a list of tools that clinicians may find acceptable for measuring the presence and severity of symptoms of vicarious trauma associated with working with victims of trauma. Though certainly not an exhaustive list, many of the more commonly used tools are presented here as well as some of the considerations for their use in either monitoring or research capacities. None of these tools are meant to replace diagnostic testing or interviews, and results should be interpreted cautiously. The use of one of these tools at regular intervals may help with the early identification of a potential problem and can be used as a flag for further investigation and intervention, if warranted. It also provides some information pertaining to the development of the scales and their psychometric properties, whenever possible, as well as their scoring instructions. |
