Popis: Integration theory describes and explains the process of unifying separate nation states. Early theories of integration also contained a strong prescriptive element. Thus, Altiero Spinelli (1907–1986), the Italian resistance leader, leader of the European Federalist Movement, member of the Italian parliament, European Commissioner, member of the European Parliament, and ardent federalist was dedicated not just to understanding the integration process, but even more so to the actual uniting of Europe. During his lifetime, Spinelli contributed to several important documents that called for a federal Europe, including the Ventotene Manifesto (1941), the Geneva Document (1944), and the Draft Treaty on European Union (1984).
