Popis: | A new method for measuring the K m for oxygen of respiratory systems using oxyhemoglobin as oxygen donor and indicator is described. The rate of HbO 2 reduction at very low oxygen pressure (fractional saturation of hemoglobin with oxygen being smaller than 1%) with a dual wavelength spectrophotometer (Δλ = 560-540 nm) was measured. The results obtained with three sources of mitochondria are in good agreement with those reported by other authors. |
