Popis: First, an historical perspective on surgical attempts to construct male genitalia will be presented. The major methods for reconstruction of the penis have been developed largely for the treatment of traumatic losses. Other causes of loss or absence of the penis have been cancer, infectious or metabolic derangements or congenital abnormalities, such as those seen in the pseudohermaphrodite. There have been two main methods of reconstructing a penis. The first has been with a tubed flap. The second has involved the use of scrotal skin. A third method has been used when a remnant of the penis was remaining, by deepening the existing structures and using local flaps.
