Popis: | A case of choriocarcinoma in whom the urine pregnancy test was negative is reported. The patient was a 31 year old para 0+1 who presented with persistent irregular vaginal bleeding for three months. She was diagnosed with a molar pregnancy at the district hospital three years earlier using urine pregnancy test neat and in dilution. Pregnancy test in dilution was also used for monitoring as the hospital had no facility for quantitative hCG estimation. She had received 5 courses of chemotherapy following which her symptoms abated and she subsequently resumed normal menstruation. The presenting episode of vaginal bleeding started about a year following this treatment. A 5 mm diameter bluish sub-urethral nodule was seen on vaginal examination. (excerpt) |
