Popis: | The iron-uptake system of S. typhimurium is energy-dependent, repressed by growth in the presence of iron, and apparently specific for iron. Iron uptake is stimulated by a sideramine and by phenolic acids. In mutants unable to synthesize enterobactin, the uptake system remains functional. Iron inside the cell is not available to external chelators. |
