This article demonstrates the inscription on the pedestal of a sculpture in the British Museum names Vāgdevī (i.e. Sarasvatī), and that this refers to the celebrated Sarasvatī from Dhār. The inscription, and wider context, shows that this image was the Jain form of the goddess. Moreover, the article shows that the sculpture in the British Museum represents the Jain goddess Ambikā.
