Popis: | Serum corticosteroid globulin, also known as transcortin or cortisol-binding globulin (CBG), was identified in 1958 by Daughaday. It is important as a carrier protein, mainly for cortisol and progesterone. CBG concentrations rise during pregnancy and after oral contraceptives are taken ; they decrease in umbilical cord serum and in patients with hyperthyroidism. CBG capacity also decreases after triiodothyronine therapy. |
