Popis: | Experiments, in vitro, on the progressive enrichment of normal sera by macroglobulins show that the latter is a factor of positive flocculation reactions. Similar experiments with normal pure y-globulins show negative results. However, the addition of a relatively small and constant amount of macroglobulins to increasing quantities of y-globulins in normal sera induces flocculation; this suggests that the macroglobulins have a “starter effect”. The use in these experiments of macroglobulins from sera of subjects suffering from Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia disease has been discussed. Literature concerning the mechanism of flocculation reactions has been reviewed. |
