Popis: Summary The dispersal units as seeds and fruits of the monocotyledonous genera in the paramo of equatorial America are described and illustrated with SEM photos. The monocotyledonous genera are mainly of neotropical and to a lesser extent of wide-temperate origin. Wind is the main dispersal vector and animals/humans and water also play an important part. The anemo-, epizoo- and endozoochorously dispersed genera are mainly of neotropical origin, whereas the hydrochorously dispersed genera are mainly of wide-temperate origin.
