Popis: | En: V International Symposium on Protected Cultivation in Mild Winter Climates: Current Trends for Suistainable Technologies Plants of two genotypes, Limonium pectinatum (wild species) and the hybrid Limonium latifolium x Limonium caspia cv. Beltlaard grown in greenhouse conditions were submitted to 200 mM NaCl irrigation solution for four months (saline treatment). Dry weight of the Beltlaard plants was affected by salinity, while this parameter remained unchanged in Limonium pectinatum. The behaviour of leaf water potential, leaf osmotic potencial and leaf turgor potential was similar in both genotypes. Osmotic adjustment was achieved by means the accumulation of Na+ and Cl-. The highest levels of these ions were found in plants of Limonium pectinatum, although the toxic effects of the absorbed ions were higher in Beltlaard. The Na+ and Cl- excretion rate through salt glands was higher in Limonium pectinatum, which indicated that the wild species showed a greater capacity to decrease the toxic salt content of the tissues. |
