Popis: The study examined the relationship between infant mortality rate and public health care in Nigeria for the period 2000-2022. Specifically, the study examined the relationship between health education, adequate nutrition, safe water and sanitation and infant mortality rate. The study employed an ex-post facto design and data for the selected variables were obtained from UNICEF data set and World Development Indicators data sets. The relationship between the variables was determined using ordinary Least Square Estimation Technique in linear form. Findings from the estimated models showed that a negative and significant relationship exist between health education and infant mortality rate; a negative and non-significant relationship between adequate nutrition and infant mortality rate; a positive and significant relationship between sanitation and infant mortality rate and a negative and significant relationship between safe water and infant mortality rate. In view of the findings, it was concluded that, proper health education, safe water, good sanitation practice and adequate nutrition can help to reduce the rate of infant mortality in Nigeria. It was therefore recommended that, proper health education should be given to pregnant and breastfeeding women during ante-natal, neo-natal and post-natal period. Furthermore, individuals and communities should make sanitation a continuous practice.
