Popis: | Summary An investigation has been undertaken to determine the effects of fenfluramine on glucose tolerance, insulin, fasting lipid and lipoprotein levels, in a series of twenty-five patients suffering from peripheral arterial disease. The results indicate that fenfluramine significantly improved glucose tolerance and that this was not the result of increased insulin production. Small but significant reduction in fasting cholesterol and β lipoprotein levels also occurred in most of the patients. Fenfluramine had no consistent effect on fasting nonesterified fatty acid, glycerides or pre-β lipoproteins. |
